Robbed of our belongings but not our joy!

Hello! As many of you have heard, We were robbed this past weekend while we were away to visit family for Christmas. We returned home Sunday afternoon to find our house ransacked. Mattresses were thrown in the floor, drawers emptied, all cabinet doors opened, basement door kicked in ect. We immediately called the police and a team of 4 showed up to search our house while we all sat outside in the car. They spent hours at our house trying to get fingerprints or any kind of evidence but came to the conclusion that whoever did this was wearing gloves. They then did a walk through with both Daniel and I individually to determine what all was stolen. Even today we have discovered more missing items. So far the list includes some of my earrings and necklaces. Some family heirlooms Daniel inherited from his great grandparents including their wedding bands. Daniels stamp collection, Daniels coin collection, Daniels sports card collection, Our keyboard valued at $1500, Some collectible bottles of wine from our honeymoon, Some Mary Kay items including 2 pieces of my luggage to carry it off in. We were certainly upset that this happened but we have so much to be thankful for! I'm thankful that we were not home, I'm thankful for all the things we still have, I'm thankful that God was watching out for us and that there is so much more to life than having material things!

First snow of the season

Yesterday we got our first beautiful blanket of snow for the season. 18 month old Isaac looked out the storm door anxiously as I bundled him up in his winter coat, hat, and boots. I opened the door and out we went. He had a great time toddling around in the snow, touching it, and falling down in it. As I watched him play in the snow it dawned on me just how happy it made me to see him happy. I realized then and there that ultimately that is my goal for his life. I want him to find true happiness that can only be found when he follows Gods will for his life. As parents we often think we know what is best for our childrens futures but the old saying "Mother knows best" does not always ring as much truth as we let on. Gods plans for our children are so much bigger and better than our own!

Laurens engagement

Hello! Life has been very busy for us. We spent Thanksgiving in GA this year and had a great time.
Best of all was that Lauren and Michael got engaged Thanksgiving morning. He surprised her good! Michael is in the U.S. Coast guard reserve and has to stay in shape so he invited her to go on his early morning jog with him out at Berry College. Everyone knew of his intentions beforehand except Lauren. Michael, Daniel, and I tried to come up with ways to surprise her over the phone well in advance. It worked! Lauren got up and put on her jogging clothes and they made it to a beautiful spot at Berry College where he popped the question right at Sunrise. The wedding will most likely take place sometime next year. We are very happy for them! Michael is already like a brother to us. He and Daniel are so much alike in many ways. Its going to be hard to live so far away from them.

Our Family

Hello, we are the Rich family. Daniel, Lindsay, Isaac, and James. Our children are 18 mo. and 3 mo. old. We had a blog created but were having so many problems with it we decided to just get a new one.
