Reflections on the VT massacre

It broke our hearts to hear about the shootings at Virginia Tech Monday. As most of you know Daniel graduated from VT this past summer with his Masters. It scared me tremendously to think how if this had happened just last year Daniel may have been sitting inside one of those classrooms at that time. Because Norris Hall was an Engineering building he had many classes on the second floor and was taught by 2 of the professors who were killed, Liviu Lebrescu and G.V. Levanathan. I remember him talking about these professors during the semesters that he had them and how funny it was to hear Dr. Lebrescu talk due to his heavy accent. We praise God that Daniel was able to graduate well ahead of schedule for his age and was not there! I most certainly would have gone crazy! I cannot imagine the pain and horror the families of the victims must have felt knowing their child or spouse was most likely in Norris Hall at that time. These families are very much in our prayers right now.

Just had to post some pics of my handsome husband who I am very thankful for!

Playing dolls

Grandma and I had fun today playing dolls with little Grace. She was quite a doll! The big white dress is one I bought her while I was living in Brazil at age 17, The pink gown dress is a gift from Grandma and the dainty pale pink dress she is sleeping in is a gift from Nana. Grace's Great-Grandmother (MawMaw) in Ga was so excited to buy her 1st Great-grandaughter the baby deer lacy satin shoes in the last picture.

A sleeping angel in Nana's dress! Her special shoes.

A Family Of 5!!!

We are proud to announce the arrival of Grace Angela Rich, born at home in our bedroom at 10:56pm, Friday, March 30 2007. She weighed 7 lbs. 15 ounces and was 20 in. long. Lindsay's labor started just as we were finishing a meal at Carabbas with my parents. It was quite a coincidence to see Lindsay's previous OB Doctor from Christiansburg at Carabbas as well. She was unsure that she was in labor until we arrived back at our apartment. We went on a short walk and turned around quickly to go back and call our midwife. Grace was born less than 3 hrs from Lindsay's first contraction. She labored in the bath tub for a while before getting out and giving birth on a wooden birth stool. We are so happy to have Grace as a new addition to our family. Our boy's were surprised to finally see sissy when they got up the next morning. She was no longer in Mamma's Tummy. Isaac said, "I take care of sissy!" James was not sure what to think. He thought life should go on the same as ever. He did point and say, "baby."It was a real blessing to have Nana, Pops, and Aunt Margaret here to help with the Boys, cleaning, and meals. We don't know how we would have done it with out them. With both family's living so far away, we were afraid no one would be able to help us. God always has the best timing for births. Lindsay is already playing dress up with Grace. She is sticking bows in her hair and dressing her in pink. She's happy to no longer be the only female in the house.

We thank God for His many blessings toward us. Continue to pray for Lindsay's recovery and every one's health. With the birth of each of our children I am reminded at what a miracle little babies are and the process of them coming into this world is. They are such a blessing.
"Like arrows in the hand of a warrior so are the children of one's youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them. They shall not be ashamed but shall speak with their enemies in the gate. Psalm 127:4-5
Thank you God for Baby Grace (Sissy) !!!!
