Valentines Day Idea's

I thought it might be fun to share what Valentines Day is going to be like for us this year and hope to get some more idea's!

1. When I set the table for breakfast I will have the kids candy bags sitting on their plate ready for them when they come to the table (each bag will just have a small sucker and 2 miniature candy bars).

2. We will have strawberry milk or cranberry juice to drink for breakfast, along with heart shaped pancakes for the kids to decorate with strawberries and whipped cream

3. We will read 1 Corinthians 13 and talk about what love is after breakfast

4. Each child will then go on a scavenger hunt to find the small valentine gift we have for them.
This will be done by me cutting out a different colored heart for each child from construction paper and placing them around the house for the kids to find their next clue. Since my kids are pre-schoolers the clue will be a picture drawn to give them a hint of where to go to find the next clue and end up at the final destination where their gift is. I am also doing a scavenger hunt for Daniel to find his gift by writing a line of a poem I wrote on each of his clue hearts (I am not about to tell you the poem though:-)

5. For lunch the kids will have a heart shaped peanut butter sandwich with strawberry jelly inside

6. After lunch we will make and decorate valentine cookies.

7. Evening... I am kind of hoping for a date:-) If this happens I will have a pizza for the kids to enjoy along with cookies they made and let them stay up a little later and choose a movie to watch.

Cute ideas! I'm not sure how to balance David's birthday and Valentine's day both because I do want the holiday and his birthday to seem like separate events. This year seems to be a bit more of a struggle to find that balance than in years past.
