What I'm Reading ~ March

So I set a new goal to challenge myself to either read or listen to 1 book per month in addition to Gods word. Why? because I want to learn and grow! Did you know that most americans have not read a non-fiction book since college but yet watches 2+ hours of TV a day? My goal is to read at least 1 book per month from one of the following categories. 1. Spiritual growth 2. Business/Finance 3. Self-Help (as in nutrition, exercise, gardening, homeschooling ect.). Each month, I want to try to blog which books I have chosen to read. Feel free to join me in this challenge!  I also want to encourage you to read with an open mind/heart. Don't be stubborn and throw a book down just because you read something you disagree with or don't like!  I think you do need to be careful about your book choices but try to finish the book and pray about what is for you and leave the rest!

1. Spiritual Growth ~ "Radical" by David Platt
Book Description
May 4, 2010
What is Jesus worth to you?

It's easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily...

But who do you know who lives like that? Do you?

In Radical, David Platt challenges you to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural preferences. He shows what Jesus actually said about being his disciple--then invites you to believe and obey what you have heard. And he tells the dramatic story of what is happening as a "successful" suburban church decides to get serious about the gospel according to Jesus.

Finally, he urges you to join in The Radical Experiment--a one-year journey in authentic discipleship that will transform how you live in a world that desperately needs the Good News Jesus came to bring.
