After nearly 3 years as a regular attender of the Awana Sparks Program, James finally guessed the amount of chocolate chips needed to win the big cookie made by Ms. Shannon. He had always wanted to win that big cookie and this year was his last chance. He was so excited to bring it home and share it with his family. We were all so happy for him!

I have to say, 2012 was one of the hardest years of my life. Spending nearly 3 months feeling horrible and vomiting off and on was very trying on not just me but our whole family. I was lonely yet felt like going nowhere. I had a couple of months over the summer where I felt good and then by September I was having trouble carrying Susanna and again felt like going nowhere and doing absolutely nothing and being depressed a lot. Don't get me wrong. I knew how blessed I was to be able to have a baby! I know many people who yearn for a child and are still waiting on the Lord to bless them. Because of the trials and blessings of 2012, I feel like relationships in my life have gone unattended. My main goal for 2013 is to work on relationships. First with God, then my family and others who may come across my path. Leading up to Susanna's birth, our church did a series focusing on "Living together in relationship". It really spoke to me and challenged me to go deeper in spite of difficult circumstances, in spite of being overwhelmed with 5 children and them being my primary focus (by demand alot of times!). A precious lady from our church recently shared these quotes on Facebook. Obstacles are opportunities to see God's goodness, faithfulness and to see how He works all things together for good. Come on 2013! I can't wait to see what you bring!
